Antler Mala Necklace
I made this long necklace in the style of Mala Meditation or Prayer beads. Traditional mala necklaces have 108 beads, which reflects a sacred number in both Hinduism and Buddhism.
The deer antler Amulet is related in many traditions with kindness, softness and gentleness. It is, in one way or another, an animal that is connected to the gods and the sacred.
In Buddhism, the deer symbolizes harmony, happiness, peace and longevity.
In Celtic tradition there were two aspects of the deer: the feminine element, called Eilid in Gaelic, the female red deer, symbolizing femininity, gentlenesss and grace. On the other hand, there was also Damh, the masculine element, which was also related to the sacred and to forests, independence, purification and pride. The stag is the king of the forest, the protector of all other creatures.
For the native tribes of North America, the deer was a messenger, an animal of power, and a totem representing sensitivity, intuition and gentleness.
I strung the pendant on beautiful hand knotted necklace of Lilac Amethyst, Green Aventurine and Rosewood beads.
I used a tiny hand carved Strawberry Quartz flower as the guru bead.
This necklace is 82cm long. The Antler pendant is 60mm × 55mm. The entire necklace weighs 50g
I use high quality Linhasita macrame cord imported from Brazil. I believe it is the best on the market, it is very durable and long lasting.
